I am a pantheist which means I believe that the universe, nature and the spiritual world are all interconnected as one. You can see evidence for that in the fractal nature of patterns. Even if we don’t know what it all means, there is meaning in the fact that patterns repeat across scales, whether it is in spiral galaxies or the arrangement of sunflower seeds. I like miniatures because you can get lost in that world of repeating patterns and tap into the energy of the universe. It takes hyper focus to work in scale – like with the octopus blending into the table. It is the same sort of place you get to when meditating. But, it is also a way or ordering the world. I love order, because my life is so chaotic otherwise. I think creativity is a way of balancing that chaos. It helps balance emotions by extension too - stress and relaxation; mania and calm. But if my work is restricted for any reason, if I have to do something else that's become important in my life, I soon sink into clinical depression again.
